Visiting the Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty, New York

Day #1, was an nice cool day, and I was surprised to know that a lot of people who actually live in New York City have never visited the statue of Liberty.  Of course we could not wait to go see the statue of liberty for ourselves.  There are several ways you can see the statue:

  1. Take the ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island.
  2. See the Statue of Liberty from Lower Manhattan and Battery Park.
  3. Take a New York City Dinner Cruise.
  4. Take a helicopter tour.
  5. One World Observatory.
  6. Staten Island Ferry.
  7. Circle Line, Liberty Cruise.

We took option 1 and 2.  So after taking the train to lower Manhattan and walking through Battery park, you will come to the Statue Cruise official ticket office inside Castle Clinton in Battery Park,.  There are a lot of different tours and people selling tickets, so please be aware of scalpers, scammers, false tickets, and overpriced tickets.  Make sure you get an official ticket and join the line to get onto the State Cruises, Miss Liberty or  Miss New York.  Boarding is a bit tricky so watch your steep and try to get a seat by the window because ride will be just a bit longer than you think.  The staff is friendly and the food offered in the cafeteria is not too bad.

As you get closer to the Statue of Liberty you get to realize that there are two Islands on the tour, there is Ellis Island and Liberty Island, the choice is yours.  As you disembark, you are offered a lot of memorabilia, snacks and drinks.  I highly recommend the lemonade, I cannot stress how refreshing it tastes on a hot summer day.  I joined to line to go visit the crown and pedestal but I was informed that you have to reserve this in advance.  I highly recommend that you book your tickets early, as I got to know the Crown tickets are often reserved 6 months in advance.  You can book your tickets on think link: https://www.statuecruises.com/

The Grounds and beautiful to walk around and you have an amazing view from all around.  The view of the statue itself is magnificent from any angle that you look at.  We ended to tour at the Liberty gift shop.  I must admit it was an amazing experience, and I would definitely revisit the statue, especially for the lemonade and the view.

My Rating: 9/10
